The Disciples Peter and John Running to the Sepulchre on the Morning of the Resurrection

I hadn't heard of this painting before today, but look into the eyes of these two apostles, I see such a mixture of conflicting emotions; expectancy, fear,....and hope; "ah at last maybe it really was true after all" and resurrection in the hearts of believers that starts and grows and trusts in That which is eternal!

Wow -- that's a really fabulous painting! I haven't seen that before.

I found your copy of this powerful image because my wife and I just saw it in an old, illustrated Bible we bought at a second hand store in Oregon (USA). Magnificent image...the faces and leaning bodies, propelled to see if He has risen. Thank you for sharing this with the world.

I saw this in Musee D'Orsay in Paris, and started crying. Repeatedly I left the room, and cried again each time I returned. I'm a 57 year old man, and I have no idea why this has such a powerful effect. I am fascinated by the difference in their expressions...Peter seems to have grasped in this moment all that this means.
