Mount Crawford in the rain!

The day was cool but sunny as we set off for our camp-fire expedition in the forest. I love the autumn colours of the vines...and so far a blue(ish) sky
By the time all 9 cars had met up and were traveling in convoy the weather had changed dramatically!
But what's a spot of rain when you're all outdoors together enjoying this fantastic site.
Amongst the tall pines jutted ungainly rock formations, just perfect for climbing over, hiding behind and viewing our domain!
The first job was to collect enough wood to light a fire!

Once the fire had been started the children vanished( apart from the "littles") until the call of hunger saw them reclimbing up those same rocks to reach hot jacket potatoes oozing with butter and sticky sweet marshmallows to "wash them down" with!!
The rain never entirely stopped but we didn't mind!

With good company, great food and a wonderful environment to be in who worries about the weather!
We were sorry to leave but headed home with a feeling of contentment.

And stopping just a few times to take a few more pictures.
 Of a very beautiful

      Happy

 and memorable day!

 I love autumn

Para Wira in the wet

It started as a greyish day, cool but not raining. We were the only family there but keen to get to our patch and see what had happened since last month.

We pulled out some olives, a couple of which were taken home to transplant

Bridal Creeper we discovered grows prolifically under large gums. We had fun pulling out all that we could see and bagging it to dispose of at home.
We stopped to have an early lunch before the rain set in. We ran for cover and spent a good portion of our remaining time there playing cards, do you dislike the card game Mao or are you a fan?Our day finished with a brisk walk around the lake.Yes we got wet and yes the car smelt pungently of red mud but what is a raining autumn day for if not to get wet!

Waratah Adventurers Again: Worabinda Wetlands, Stirling

Today we went to the Worabinda Wetlands, Stirling. It is mazing that all the times i have diven to and through Stirling I never knew this wetlands existed!

Toda the group was composed of only boys. And what are the boys doing in the above picture...Looking out of a bird hide of course!
We had a map and particular points to stop at and note things. We were also very lucky to have our own personal conservationist along to add even more information, thank you Mandy!
 One of the stopping points.
 An intersting specimen.
Look what we spied asleep up a very high tree!!
Looking back  across to the bird hide.
 A little bird discussion
 Further investigations...
...because I just liked the look of it...
Yeh a bird!

Waratah Adventurers at Botanic Park

We are part of a homeschooling group that meets in various parks to interact together and explore nature. This is our first excursion this term.

don't fall in!

then there were 3

now there are 4!

Don't you just love the hive of activity in the foreground and the uni students in the background looking tired from all their studies in the world of academia!
Waratah means red flowering tree
