A team of two from the Mt Lofty Resource Management Board, lead us in an informative afternoon looking at biological control of weeds in the Mt Lofty Ranges at Woodhouse.
Woodhouse uses many biocontrol agents including English broom gall mite, Cape broom psyllid and Gore spider mite. This was a hands-on workshop and included releasing some of the mites.
Hopefully you can see some of the galls in this picture.
And above under the gum trees, a large amount of english broom. Beautiful if its growing in the right place.We also learned that our eucalyptus are a pest in South Africa.What is a weed:
